Binding the Lewis & Clark Book in Arizona.

The time away from work and Marti the mini-moose sees Arizona...
We went into Scotsdale and visited the Old Scotsdale area with it's shops and galleries. Our first stop was of course, lunch. Then we hit the stores for some cool western wear....
Della & Eric try on the holsters...ohhhh...
Kathy tries on a cowgirl hat but luckily decides it just isn't the right one...

That night we had a fine dinner, but Maarti the mini-moose was not around when we were ready to go - so we don't really know what he ended up doing...on Thursday we had the day off and headed over to the Phoenix Botanic Garden, which is a desert plant museum.
After a fine morning and lunch at the Botanic Garden we went up to Cave Creek recreation area for a quick hike in the desert. It was a perfect little hike and as we got back to the car the rains started once again...
That night we ate at a very nice restaraunt and then I went and picked up Sam and his friend Patrick from their flight out from Chicago. They were supposed to get in at 10 pm and they arrived at 1:45 am. You gotta love United!!
Friday morning saw the departure of Eric and Ann and Della. So after saying good-bye to them Kathy & I took the boys out to breakfast before heading back over to Roswell to show them the operation. Quite amazingly they had done a lot of the work already and areas like the case making and collating areas were all done with their part of the work. That night we went to my friend's house here in Phoenix for dinner. We have known each other since 7th grade. Marti the mini-moose joined us for a fine time!
Marti the mini-moose checks out the salmon, but I'm not sure he ever ate any... Sam, Lolly, Rich, Denise, Kathy, me, Tom, and Toni.
Patrick and Sam were joined by Marti the mini-moose in the jacuzzi and seemed to be having a great time!
Then all of the sudden Marti the mini-moose decided to cool off by jumping in the pool. It is not heated. Patrick made money off my friend Bill who bet him he wouldn't jump in. He did it 3 times.
After getting Marti the mini-moose dried off it was time for cigars and scotch. The perfect ending to a fine night.
On Saturday we went over to Taliesen West the winter residence of Frank Lloyd Wright. It is an amazing place to see. His ingenuity and design ideas are clearly part of his genius. And since this was built as a camp, it did not have windows during the early years and used a canvas roof. It is still part of the apprentice program of the Wright Foundation and a working architecture firm.

Then it was back to Old Scotsdale so the boys could buy a few souveigneers. Sam & I pause to take a portrait, then we did a family portrait, but I think we weren't paying attention or something. Sam then found a poncho and hat he had to have...and then have me put it on...

Finally we arrived back at the house...
Marti the mini-moose was not forgotten as we bought him a new hat too! Then it was time to enjoy the sun....
